Sapphire received her doctoral degree in communication from the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. She also has a Master of Mass Communication from Wee Kim Wee School of Communication & Information, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.

Sapphire’s research focuses on health communication, with an emphasis on how information and communication technologies (ICTs) influence health behavior among vulnerable groups, such as older adults, individuals with illnesses, and persons with disabilities. Using both qualitative and quantitative methods, she explores how interactions—both human-human and human-technology—can optimize health outcomes. Her research is oftentimes interdisciplinary. She has held leading roles in large studies and collaborative grants with partners across academia, industry, government, and the community. By integrating theoretical insights with practical applications, her work aims to address critical societal challenges and inform policy and practice to improve the lives and well-being of vulnerable populations.
